Students examine word meaning and generate synonyms and sentences for each vocabulary word within a nonfiction text. This activity, as written, requires the use of written text. Modifications would allow for students to use oral text instead.
In this activity students will evaluate their understanding of a text they have heard. If students are having difficulty with understanding they will choose a “fix up” strategy.
