LanguageScreen is an early language assessment developed by the University of Oxford that measures Expressive Vocabulary, Listening Comprehension, Receptive Vocabulary, and Sentence Repetition.
The Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum builds students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through an integrated literacy approach.
In this activity students will evaluate their understanding of a text they have heard. If students are having difficulty with understanding they will choose a “fix up” strategy.
This resource requires the following modification to explicitly target listening comprehension: shift the burden of decoding/encoding onto the educator (i.e., the educator should read/write instead of the student(s)).
