During this activity students will listen to a portion of the text and draw a question card. Students will generate a question based on the question word on the card and the portion of the text they have heard. Another student will use the knowledge from the text to answer the question. This activity can be modified so students are listening to the text.
Pre K On My Way is a comprehensive curriculum designed to help Pre-Kindergarten students build important foundational skills across language, literacy, math, science, fine arts, physical development, social studies, and technology.
During this activity, students brainstorm what they know about a given topic. After engaging with text, they revisit their brainstorm and identify words, ideas, etc. that were used in the text.
This resource requires the following modification to explicitly target listening comprehension: shift the burden of decoding/encoding onto the educator (i.e., the educator should read/write instead of the student(s)).
