What is it?

Mapping the Internal World of a Character is a strategy that gives students the opportunity to examine character’s emotions. This resource includes an overview of the strategy and clear steps to support practitioner preparation and implementation. Note: *the complexity of the topic and language used to prompt students, as well as duration of the activity, may allow for the use of this strategy in elementary grades. Additional modifications that include the use of oral, rather than written text, may help practitioners more explicitly target listening comprehension. For example, students might reflect through rich discussion rather than writing in journals.
